Hey there, White Ashians,

Again, what an amazing, spectacular, "add in all the adjectives," beginning.  We are truly gobsmacked. 

If you’ve backed our previous campaigns, you’ll know that Conor traditionally does a "thank you" for our backers. For this incredible campaign, he thought you all deserved a little something extra special to acknowledge how we feel.  He's been working the past day and a half on it, just so I could type...

From all of us here in White Ash…

Also traditional in White Ash is turning that thank you image into a print as our first stretch goal. As we’re WAY past where the stretch goals should have kicked in, consider that one UNLOCKED. Every physical backer will receive this image as a 6"x9” print on glossy card stock.

Our second Stretch goal was going to be an All-New Bookmark. We love the one we’ve given out in the past. It’s nice and thick, printed on a “Trifecta Green with Velvet finish.” But as we’re introducing new characters this time around, we felt it was due for a refresh.

So EVERY physical backer will now get one of our premium bookmarks. And if you backed at one of our catch-up tiers, we’re going to throw in one of the older ones for good measure. Consider this one UNLOCKED TOO

Our third stretch goal was going to be adding a new PIN UP/ inside cover/ chapter break for Chapter Seven. We’ll just go ahead and UNLOCK that, another gorgeous image from Conor Hughes ….

Which brings us to our next Stretch Goal #4 DEAL ME IN which will unlock at $36,500. In the past we’ve (and by "we, I mean Conor) has created Custom Trading Cards based on the White Ash universe... 13 in total. 

With new issues, come some new faces, so when we reach Stretch Goal #4. every backer will receive a new Trading Card. And if you’re a catch-up tier backer who’s slightly late to the party, you won't be penalized for missing out on the earlier ones as you’ll receive the full set FULL SET of all 14 cards.

Adding extras is one of our favorite parts. We always want you to feel like you got your money's worth when you back one of our campaigns. My other personal favorite part of Kickstarter is the community of both fans and creators that the platform cultivates.  Through Kickstarter I've become friends with Karl Kesel, Kevin Joseph, Ron Randall. Madeleine Holly-Rosing and so many more writers and artists.  

Which leads me to newest duo of incredible people I've gotten to know, Nate Cosby and Jacob Edgar who are live right now with the graphic novel Alter Ego.

Starting with the premise, "What if one man was two superheroes" Alter Ego is the jaw-droopingly gorgeous kinda prestige graphic novel that you would have seen at Top Shelf a few years back... and never on Kickstarter. But the landscape has changed and some of the best work in comics is being brought here first. Alter Ego is example number one with a bullet.  Written by Eisner-nominated Nate Cosby (Cow Boy) and drawn by Jacob Edgar (James Bond), the story is set in Hollywood, channeling the golden age of La La land and the action comics of that era.  I was all-in the moment I read the hook and started scrolling down the page.  (Which you should do NOW). Edgar's dynamic art is easy to get lost in. He's channeling some serious Darwyn Cooke vibes with these pages. I mean, check these out...

Rounding out their incredible team is colorist Kike J. Diaz (Red Sonja), and letterer Rus Wooton (The Walking Dead). And then they've got variant covers from a murder's row of artists including Wilfredo Torres, Phil Hester, Declan Shalvey, Chris Eliopoulos, and SOZOMAIKA

RUN to back this book. RUN HERE. They're a few dollars away from being funded.  It's criminal that they aren't already there.  I'm just thrilled that the caliber of creators on Kickstarter continues to get better by the year.  Let's make sure we're supporting the great work that's being done on the platform.

We didn't want anymore time to go by before we popped in and said we can't tell you how much we appreciate the insane first day that White Ash had.

We'll be back later today with a more complete update including rolling out some stretch goals.  

But for now, again, thank you so much for the continued support of all we're building here on Kickstarter.

This. This right here. This feeling of being back on Kickstarter. It’s incredible.

This is my 10th kickstarter and I just adore bringing White Ash to the platform. Yesterday (and today for that matter) was amazing. And by that, I don’t mean the money. Don’t get me wrong, the amount we raised in 30 hours is mind-blowing. We’re floored by the support as it means the team will keep getting paid real wages for the time they put in. And the money ensures that we can continue building the White Ash Universe for the people who love it (hopefully) for years to come.

And that’s the part I adore — seeing all the fans who are passionate about White Ash show up to support it on day one... day two... and throughout the campaign. Knowing that the book resonates with so many of you, is all we as a creative team could hope for for. And for those of you new to our world, seeing the comments of excitement about finding White Ash… also, just magical.

So THANK YOU most sincerely for this incredible start. We’ll be back tomorrow with some extra thank you’s, some stretch goals, and answers to any questions you may have.
